about A Puppy for You

Noah & Fluffy - The Start of it All

A Puppy for You started when our son, Noah, wanted a puppy for his birthday. The Cocker Spaniel that we got for him, Fluffy, spurred our four oldest children to want dogs for their birthdays too! With all of our new pups, we eventually decided to make raising them more than just a hobby and started our business.

We couldn't be where we are today without the help of our kids. All of our six children love dogs and have been a part of the puppy-raising process since day one (besides our youngest who can only admire and pet the pups). The kids are involved in almost every aspect of the lives of our pups. They help care for them, from socializing to feeding to cleaning up after them. Dan and I like that raising pups can teach our children responsibility.

If you ask us, all of the work involved in caring for them is completely worth it! Our puppies are happy, healthy, and ready for families of their own. While we miss our pups, it’s fantastic to see them being loved and cared for by others. We love to hear testimonials from happy clients! Check out our testimonials page to see some of our puppies with their new families.

Years of Experience:

For Sadie, dogs have been a part of her life since childhood as several of her sisters and brothers raised dogs. As newlyweds, Sadie and Dan moved to a small acreage near Sioux Center, IA. Their new place, ironically, had been previously set up with the purpose of breeding dogs in mind.

With the help of the previous owner of the property, they started raising dogs as a hobby. Life interrupted their puppy-raising for a brief amount of time. Despite this pause, they returned to their hobby and started "A Puppy for You" in 2015. The family now lives on a different acreage located near Doon, IA.

What do we love most about puppies?

"(I love) how excited they always are to see us, especially dog-hugs." - Sadie Maassen
